GlowShift’s Tinted 7 Color Series Transmission Temperature Gauge is essential for any vehicle with an automatic transmission, especially diesel trucks that are towing heavy loads. This gauge allows you to closely monitor the temperature of your transmission, ensuring that it does not overheat causing significant damage. By connecting to the included electronic temperature sensor, this trans temp gauge will effectively take readings from 80° to 260° Fahrenheit.
The Tinted 7 Color Gauge Series
GlowShift’s Tinted 7 Color Gauge Series comes standard with features including a black gauge face, magnified tinted lens and illuminated red needle. Whether your gauge is on or off, it will look amazing courtesy of this tinted lens feature which is at the heart of the series and gives your gauge a unique, stealth-like appearance. Stepper motor technology gives this pyrometer gauge the perfect combination of extremely accurate gauge readings along with incredibly smooth needle movement. The Tinted 7 Color Gauge Series includes the ultra-bright LED solid color modes Blue, Green, Red, Teal, Yellow, Purple and White. Also included is GlowShift’s 7 Color Lighting System which allows you to select and change the color of your gauge lighting display by simply pressing the button located along the front of the gauge. With the 7 Solid Color Settings and 2 Color Cycle Modes that utilize all of the radiant LED colors, you can customize the color of this EGT pyrometer gauge and add your own personal touch and style to the inside of your vehicle. Plus with the Color Memory option, you won’t have to reset the color of your gauge every time you turn on your vehicle. Your gauge will reflect your most recent color setting the next time it is active. By connecting the orange wire of your gauge to the factory headlight switch, you’ll be able to dim your gauge 30% when your headlights are turned on to reduce the brightness of your gauges while driving at night.
Why Is Transmission Temperature So Important?
One of the major factors in reducing the life of a vehicle’s transmission is overheating, and one of the main reasons a truck transmission overheats is due to the strain of towing larger and heavier amounts of cargo. Your trans temp gauge will monitor transmission temperatures during a larger haul and alert you in the event of temperature spikes. Another issue is older transmission fluid. Older transmission fluid will be less effective at performing its primary functions, one of the most important of which is keeping the system cool. The typical range for transmission fluid temperature is between 175° and 225°, and keeping within that average range is vital to your engine and transmission’s long term performance. This is where transmission temperature gauges come into play, which work by monitoring the temperature of your car or truck’s transmission by measuring the transmission fluid’s temperature. By having a trans temp gauge, you’ll be kept one step ahead of any possible issues involving overheating that could potentially seize your transmission.
Trans Temp Gauge Install Parts
This transmission temperature gauge kit comes with items required for the installation process and operation of your gauge. Included is an Electronic Transmission Temperature Sensor with ⅛-27 NPT Male Threads which is easily installed to your transmission test port or by replacing the stock sensor. You will also receive a 2’ power harness, a Gauge Visor, mounting hardware and installation instructions as part of this gauge package.
Note: This gauge includes a 1/8-27 NPT thread size on the sensor and your vehicle may not come equipped with the same thread size. An additional threading adapter may be required for the installation of the sensor. If you are unsure if your application will require additional threading adapters.
